Stoney Hill Studio

Hello from Stoney Hill.

Stoney Hill Studio is Jake Ward's design and development studio in Fort Collins, Colorado. It's the home of KeyCollage, Hestia, MovieLog and Fidgit, and the place to come when you want an app or a website that works beautifully and says what it means.

What's in the box

Every project gets all three, from the first sketch to the last line of copy.

Design

Interfaces that feel obvious the first time and still feel good the hundredth.

Build

Fast, dependable apps, websites and games for whatever screen people have.

Words

Headlines, buttons and error messages written like a friendly person is talking.

How a project goes

Four steps, and you can see where things are at every one of them.

  1. Say hello

Tell us what you're dreaming up, who it's for, and what would make it a success.

  2. Sketch

We work out what it needs to do, then draw it, so you can point at things before anything is built.

  3. Build

Design, code and words come together, and you try it as it grows.

  4. Launch

It goes live, and we keep making it better with you.

House rules

Pinned above the desk, and checked before anything ships.

  1. Useful first

If it doesn't help someone, it doesn't ship.

  2. Delight in the details

The loading screen, the empty state, the little moment after you press save.

  3. Plain words

No jargon, no guilt-trips, no surprises in the small print.

  4. Your data is yours

No dark patterns, and no tracking you didn't agree to.

Got a curious idea?

Tell us what you're dreaming up, and we'll help you build it beautifully.
